Drivingisprobablythebestpartof

why.Heteestheballupveryhighwith
hisweightbackbehindtheball,butit’s
almostlikehe’stryingtogenerate
heightwiththedriver,whichhas
affectedtherestofhisgame.
I neededtofithimforadriverthat
giveshimtheloftandthespinheneeds
withoutforcinghisbodytodoitand
thataccommodatesthechangesPiers
hasmadetohisaddressposition.
Everythingaboutthisnewdriverhad
tobeaboutincreasinglaunch.I hadit
on12.5degreesofloftwithasofter
shaftthanhewasusing,soeverything
wasgearedtogettingtheballupinthe
airratherthan making his body do all
thework.
Hisattackanglewassoshallowwe
actuallyneededtoputabitofspinon
theball,sowemanagedtoincreaseit
byabout1,000rpm.Now,he’shittingit
farmoreconsistentlyanditshouldalso
helptherestofhisgameifhecan
improvehisbodyposition.

Thedriverfittingwasareally
interestingexperience,especially
whencombinedwithalesson.The
tuitionelementpointedoutwhatI do–I
waskindofawareofitasitaffectsmy
ironsandotherclubswhereI’mreally
sweepingtheballofftheground.So
withmyballpositionalittleless
forwardandthefittedM6driver I hit
somereallynicedrives.
Itlooksverydifferenttomycurrent
clubfromthetopwiththecarbonfibre
elements,butitcertainlyseemstobe
easiertoalignanditfeelsalothotter
outofthescrews.AllI needtodonow
ispractise,practise,practisetomakeit
allfeelmorenatural.Itjustgoesto
showhowaclubfitterandcoach
shouldworktogether to get the best
possibleresults.
