Adidas Golf’s global footwear
director explains the brand’s
involvement in the project
Why
does Adidas
Golf feel so strongly about
supporting Parley for the Oceans?
One of our core beliefs is that through
sport we have the power to change
lives. Once we found out what Parley
was doing, it was a win-win for both of
us. We understand the importance of
sustainability and we want our
products to incorporate
recycled material.
Do
youhope other
brandsfollow suit and start
tousemorerecycled materials?
Absolutely!Itis important to
understandweallshare this amazing
planetandweallneed to take action.
Ultimatelytheconsumer will decide,
butweareconfident that our leading
designs,coupled with increased
sustainability,make Adidas a
greatchoice.
Does
use of recycled
plastic affect the shoe’s
performance in any way?
Absolutely not. We made sure the raw
recycled material performed very well
and use it in ways that only enhance it.
What we are excited about is
continuing to innovate and provide
even more performance and
technology in products that
have recycled
material.
The waterproof Tour360 XT Parley
shoe is built on the same eight-spike
outsole with X-Traxion technology as
the original leather Tour360 XT for
superior grip and stability. A key
difference is a sock-like opening for
optimal comfort.
Sergio Garcia recently wore the
shoe in the US Open held at Pebble
Beach, a course known for its beautiful
coastal views, which will hopefully stay
that way for many years to come.
