PING SIGMA2

PING founder Karsten Solheim
revolutionised putter design with
the original Anser putter. And the
company continues to innovate
with its range of fl atsticks, the new
Sigma 2 range adding custom
length capabilities to allow golfers
to fi nd their correct putter length
and an insert combining two layers.
The soft-feeling face is designed
to ensure no feedback is lost
at the expense of feel, with a
dual-durometer ‘PEBAX’ face
material allowing the company’s
engineers to cater to both required
areas of putting performance.
A softer front layer offers the soft
feel so many golfers crave, while
the fi rmer back layer helps provide
feedback and consistency on longer
range putts where distance control
is crucial. The insert also utilises
PING’s patented ‘TR’ face pattern
that features varied depth and
pitch across the face to produce
consistent ball speeds no matter
where the putt is struck on the face.
Believing that eight out of 10
players use the wrong length
putter, the Sigma 2 putters feature
a simple-to-use adjustability system
that allows golfers to adjust from
32-36inches in ¼ inch increments,
with the grip remaining square at
all times.
Including classic PING shapes like
the Anser, the range also sees the
introduction of new models such as
the Fetch – a high MOI mallet design
that offers forgiveness and includes
a golf-ball-shaped hole in the rear of
the head that can be used to pick the
ball out of the hole.
RRP: $349 (Anser, ZB 2, Arna,
Kushin C); $379 (Fetch, Tyne, Tyne 4,
Wolverine H, Valor).
