Come Dancing, as Jennifer Saunders and
Oti Mabuse shoot hoops in a fiercely
contested celebrity netball match.
They’ll captain two squads of famous
faces, who’ll be looking to perfect their pivots
in this special for Sport Relief.
‘This might be my only
chance to hold up a sporting
trophy,’ says Jennifer. ‘So I’m
not letting this once-in-a-
lifetime opportunity slip.
‘I haven’t picked up a
netball since school, so
who knows what kind of
moves I’ll be
making out there in the arena.
‘I’m taking my role as team captain very
seriously. We’ll be unstoppable and there
certainly won’t be any cheating going on.’
Clare Balding will present the action, with
the teams made up of sporting and showbiz
stars such as DJ Vick Hope, actress Sally
Phillips and Olympic rowing championKatherine Grainger, to name but a few.
We’ll see each squad’s journey from first
training session to the nail-biting match itself,
plus films showing Sport Relief’s life-
changing charity work around the world.
Oti grew up playing netball in South Africa
and hopes her dance training will pay off as
she hot-foots it around the court at
Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena.
‘I’ll be whipping my team into shape to
keep Jennifer on her toes,’ she explains. ‘I’m
going to do a massive pep talk
about self-belief, so they
believe they’re the best
netball players in
the country.’
