Boxster Spyder

EINE KLEINE SPEEDSTER

Once the poor relation to the GT4, the Spyder is no longer a support act.
Described by GT boss Andreas Preuninger as “an open GT4”, it gets
the same engine, suspension and underbody aero as its coupe sibling.
Preuninger likes open cars (his personal 993 is a cabriolet) and pushed
hard for the 911 Speedster. He describes the Spyder as being: “a little
bit like the Speedster... [it’s] a full-blown GT car, just without a roof. But
for the purist; it’s gained a lot of performance.” If you missed out on
the very limited (and $604,800) Speedster allocation, then this could
be just the ticket. As Preuninger points out, at $209,000: “It’s about a
third of the price but it’s not a third of the car.”
