ThoresbyinNottinghamshirecamefirst,the
morning spent explaining the DSC1 syllabus

andanafternoonpractisingthethreeshoot-
ingpositionsrequiredfortheDSC1:prone;
sittingwithsticks;andstandingwithsticks.
WiththeLadiesDSC1cancelledduetolackof
interestmyrifle-shootingintentionsjuddered
toa halt.TheDSC1,whileimpartingeverything
oneneedstoknowaboutdeeridentification,
diseaseandseasons,hasa glaringomission:
whattodowiththatknowledgeasa novice.
