theTownCouncilhadvotedtoputupanequestrianstatueofhimat
publicexpense,hisbrotherL.DomitiusFabianuserecteditathisown
expense,thussparingexpenditureonthepartofthecity.

Theinscriptioncomesinfactfromthebaseoftheequestrianstatue(which
hasnotsurvived)whichstoodinBullaRegiatorecordforhisfellowcitizens
thefavourwhichMarsianushadearnedintheimperialservice.Hisbrother
Fabianus,ifnotactuallyamemberofthecitycouncil(asheprobablywas),
