Spotlight 1/2020 THE LIGHTER SIDE

Sold out
An artist is talking to a gallery own-
er after an exhibition. “Did you
sell any of my paintings?” asks the
artist. “Well, I have good news and
bad news for you,” says the owner.
“The good news is that a man was
wondering if your work would go
up in value after your death. When
I said it would, he bought all of your
paintings.” “That’s wonderful!”
the artist says. “But what’s the bad
news?” The owner replies, “The man
was your doctor.”

Careful what you say
A six-year-old girl goes
to the office with her
father on “Bring Your
Kid to Work Day”.
As they are walking
around the office,
the girl starts crying
loudly. Her father asks
her what is wrong.
As the other employ-
ees gather around,
she cries out, “Daddy,
where are all the
clowns you said you
work with?”

Out of this world
Why haven’t aliens visited our solar system yet?
Because they’ve seen the reviews and it only has one star.

Behind bars
It’s a banker’s first day in
prison, and he gets very
nervous when he meets
the dangerous-looking
man he is sharing a cell
with. When the prison-
er notices how scared
the banker seems, he
says, “Don’t worry. I’m
in for a white-collar
crime, too.” “Really?”
asks the banker. “Oh,
yes,” says the cellmate.
“I killed a priest.”

Flying high
A newspaper photographer is told by his
editor to get some pictures of the forest fires
that are burning in the region. He organiz-
es a plane at the local airport and, when he
arrives there, he is told there is one wait-
ing for him outside. He goes out to the
runway, sees a plane and jumps in with his
bag, shouting “Let’s go!” The pilot quickly
takes off. Once in the air, the photographer
tells the pilot to fly over the burning forest.
“Why?” asks the pilot. The photographer
replies, “Because I work for a newspaper
and I need to get some pictures of the fires.”
There is a long silence from the front of the
plane. Finally, the pilot asks in a worried
voice, “So, what you’re telling me is... you’re
not my flight instructor?”
