Why study stress and health?
How are they related? Stress is not a rare experience but something that all people experience in varying degrees
every day. This chapter will explore the sources of stress in daily life, the factors that can make the experience of
stress easier or more difficult, and the ways that stress influences our physical and mental health. We’ll finish by
discussing various ways to cope with the stresses of everyday life as well as with the extraordinary experiences
that arise in life that have the potential to induce stress.
