right. Thank you for telling
me that. I was getting
emotional and I think I’m
nervous about this whole
thing.”

On Conscious
Uncoupling
I think it’s fantastic! So
many of us emulate celeb-
rities, so when Gwyneth
Paltrow and Chris Martin
do something like that,
then you see them on
vacation together or at
their kid’s soccer game,
I think people go, “Hey,
I want to be like them. I
could do that too.”

On Turning
Down Clients
My whole character is
based on problem-solving
and conflict resolution.
There have been people
who’ve come to me,
celebrities or otherwise,
who I can tell don’t really
want to resolve conf licts.

you, because conf lict in my
world means payment. The
more you argue, the more
money we make, and I’ll
send you to one of those
people and you can go talk
to them about your unreal-
istic expectations.”

On Persuading
Couples Not
to Divorce
Pretty much every client I
see, I ask, “Have you been
to marriage counseling?” In
the high-net-worth world
of our firm, most of those
people already have been
in counseling or therapy.

people purchase the plat-
form and initiate a divorce,
we ask, “Have you been to
some kind of counseling?”
Even if it’s not a fancy Bev-
erly Hills marriage, people
should at least try to be in
counseling; then, even if you
can’t work it out and stay
married, you can work it
out better in terms of being
able to work through the di-
vorce. So yes, almost every
client we have, I’ve asked if
there’s a way to reconcile.

On Her Advice for
Harry and Meghan
They might be feeling
amazing right now, being
out from under the thumb
of the family, but while
things are good is the
time to establish some
of the tools you need for
great communication and
conf lict resolution when
things in the future may
not be as good. Every re-
lationship, whether you’re
a royal, a celebrity or just
a normal person, is going
to run into problems, and
if you have the tools to
deal with those problems
by communicating and
connecting, you’ll be able
to [get] through it. 

Wasser doesn’t repre-
sent only celebs: Her
online program, It’s Over
Easy (divorce.itsovereasy

way to divorce, and she does
pro bono work with multiple
organizations. But her
Rolodex of A-list clients is
seriously impressive. Ryan
Reynolds, Christina Aguilera,
Ashton Kutcher, Johnny Depp
and Heidi Klum all hired her
for their high-profile divorces.
