charity sale

PREMIER League WAGs
are selling designer gear
and children’s clothes to
raise cash for charity.
Jamie Vardy’s wife
Rebekah, 37, is among the
partners donating to the
online jumble sale.
The mum-of-five is
offering more than 100 of
their kids’ items – includ-
ing Dolce & Gabbana
dungarees for £65 and
Fendi sandals at £75.
It is hoped that the
sale, on April 24, will raise
more than £500,000.
The idea is the
brainchild of former
Chelsea goalie’s partner
Anoeskcka Gianotto.
She said: “This can be
the new luxury.”
Leicester striker Vardy is
also among stars donating
memorabilia for charity

to build home

A DIY novice built his
dream home for £140,000
using YouTube videos.
Graham Harley, 51, who
taught himself roofing
and plastering, spent 10
years constructing a
five-bedroom bungalow
in Ringwood, Hants.
The IT worker lived with
partner Mandie, 48, and
her two sons in a caravan
during the build – and they
even had a baby in the
middle of the project.
Graham, who eventually
quit his job to concentrate
on the home, said: “I’d
work as long as the light
allowed. Everything took
longer because I was
learning. I looked stuff up
online and in books.”
The family moved into
the home in 2017 and work
was finished in 2018.
The average house price
in their area is £450,000.

ESSEX BOYS KILLER

IS SET TO BE FREED

to have his conviction overturned.
His application is thought to include
details of a Scotland Yard bugging
operation which recorded a gangster
offering to “take out” the dealers
who supplied Leah Betts.
Tucker, Tate and Rolfe controlled
the supply of ecstasy in the Basildon
club where the tablet was bought.
Pictures of Leah in a coma
sparked a national outcry.
Steele and Whomes
were convicted on
evidence from
convicted fraudster
Darren Nicholls, who
claimed to have been
their getaway driver.
Detectives spent
30 hours questioning
Nicholls, but with the
tape recorder turned off,
and Steele and Whomes’
lawyers claimed he had
fabricated the story.
London villain Billy
Jasper had already
admitted being the
real driver, telling
police he was paid
£5,000 to take a hitman
to the murder scene.
Jasper was never charged.
A spokeswoman for
the Parole Board said:
“We can confirm the parole review
of Jack Whomes has been referred to
the Parole Board.” Steele, whose case
has not been referred, is a category

He denies 1995 drugs gang hit

A MAN convicted of the “Essex
Boys” murders is set to be freed
from prison this spring while still
battling to clear his name.
Jack Whomes, 57, is in an open
prison and his case has been
referred to the parole
board for a hearing in
the next few months.
He and his friend
Michael Steele, now
76, got life with a
minimum of 25 years
for shooting Tony
Tucker, 38, Pat Tate, 37
and Craig Rolfe, 26,
whose bodies were
found in a Range Rover
on a farm track in
Rettendon, Essex, in 1995.
The drug dealers
were thought to have
supplied the ecstasy
taken by Leah Betts,
18, who had died
three weeks earlier.
Whomes has had his
jail sentence reduced to
22 years for his “exemplary
behaviour”. Doubts
remain on the safety of
the convictions and both men still
deny involvement in the executions,
which became known as the “Essex
Boys” murders after a 2000 film of
the same name starring Sean Bean.
Whomes applied last year to the

Motown icons’ lost recordings unearthed

LOST recordings by Stevie Wonder
and Marvin Gaye may be heard for
the first time after a rare back-
catalogue was put up for sale.
The privately owned vinyl
collection has been stored in the
temperature-controlled vault of a
major music label for more than 60
years. Now the records, including

original tracks by Marvin and
Stevie, are being sold at auction.
It means some of the songs
could be heard for the first time if
the buyer releases them publicly.
The Temptations, Diana Ross
and The Supremes are also among
the artists on the recordings of
soul, reggae, funk and Motown

icons from the 1950s and 60s.
Three previously unheard tracks
by Marvin and one by Stevie are
said to be particularly rare.
Experts estimate that bidding
for the collection could top
£100,000 at the sale on Friday
held by Wessex Auction Rooms in
Chippenham, Wilts. The firm’s

auctioneer Martin Hughes said:
“This is without question the most
rarities I’ve ever sold in one
collection. Until now they have
stayed in a controlled music vault.
“The thing with this collection
is that every single time I pulled
a record out it seemed to be
another star lot.”
