A Short Beautiful Life
There are 58 species of water lilies but only one kind
found in South Africa. During the day, it opens only
in sunshine and closes at night. The flowers are
pollinated by bees and beetles, then drawn back
underwater. The seeds ripen, float along streams
and finally sink into the mud where they germinate
- a short but beautiful life. The lilies were in bloom
