Naming

polygons

Polygons are named for the number of sides and
angles they have. Most polygons’ names come
from the Greek words for different numbers. Here
are some of the most common polygons.

REAL WORLD MATHS

Honey in hexagons
To store the honey they
make, some bees build
honeycombs from wax
made inside their bodies.
Honeycomb cells are
regular hexagons that fit
together perfectly to make
a strong, space-saving
storage unit for the honey.
