TARTANSILK has announced that the
company has moved into new offices at
3 Walker Street in the West End.
The move is an exciting development
for TARTANSILK as the PR firm expands.
Now in their 27th year this will ensure
that they can continue to provide their
clients the best possible service.
It marks a return for founder Martin
Hunt who worked in Walker Street in the
1980s before heading south to London.
Like many companies during Covid
TARTANSILK adopted a work from home
approach, however the team feel that
now is the time to start afresh in a
completely new environment.
Their new offices will allow them to be
“even more creative and increase our
interaction with our clients”.
The office is easy to get to as it is
adjacent to the West End tram stop and
only a few minutes walk from Haymarket
Station and nearby bus services.

BARRHEAD TRAVEL has reported
a surge in bookings for the first
couple of weeks in May. Smart
travellers have worked out they
can have a ten day break but only
use four days holiday from work.
The travel agency has reported
that bookings are up by 58%
compared to the same period in
- Most popular are Med cruises
from Southampton, Mallorca,
Tenerife, Costa Blanca, Florida and
as far away as Canada.
Victoria Dodds, Store Manager of
Barrhead Travel Edinburgh said:
“Bank holidays have long been a
popular time to travel but it’s really
interesting to see how many people
are optimising the extra holiday for
the King’s Coronation after only
being announced late last year.
Following a record-breaking Easter,
it’s clear that people are making
the most of their holidays and
taking advantage of some of the
fantastic deals available.
“The top durations across this
Bank Holiday period are mainly
seven nights or longer – so it looks
like people have decided to tie in
their annual leave and take a long
trip. The fact that we’re seeing
longhaul destinations, such as
Canada, amongst the most
sought-after places is a sign that
holidaymakers are keen to tick-off
long-awaited bucket list trips.
“May is a popular time for both
families and friends to get away
before the peak of summer and we
have a range of deals on offer to
suit every budget.”

THE NAME 29TWELVE is deliberate - it means
that the company is at the top of any alphabetical
lists, but it is also intended to differentiate the brand
from others in the estate agency market.
Friends of 20 years, Edinburgh born and raised
Leah Bryce and Nicky McConnachie, have built
their business on top of a long friendship, as well as
their experience in client services, financial services
and real estate, to package up a unique service and
they want that uniqueness to stand out.
What they do for clients is help them find a
property which perfectly fits their needs and which
may not even be on the open market. Their aim is
to help their clients find the best property for
them - and while it can be at a better price, that
is not the principal driver.
Nicky and Leah determine what the client
wants by means of their thorough preparation
- and they admit it is a bit like a dating agency
with their two page questionnaire. Leah said: “It
is a tough document to get through really, and
quite often it flags up questions the client may
not have thought about. But it really gets under
the skin of what’s important to them.”
Some of the clients may be moving for difficult
reasons such as illness, so this is not a bijou
operation simply to find mansions for wealthy
families to expand into, and they do also advise on
properties at the lower end of the market.
In some areas many properties are sold privately
and off market, so if that is where a buyer wants to
find a new home, then Leah said they will “just not
find them” without specialist help. With a horror
story of a house in East Lothian selling for around
55% more than the Home Report valuation, Leah
and Nicky both agreed they could have saved the
purchaser some money by helping them acquire
the house off market.
She said: “We are very open with our clients and
say that we’re not getting them a bargain, it may
not be under home report value but we will get
them in to see it quickly. Then they will need to
make a decent offer that is enough for the seller to
accept and not put the property on the market.”
They recognise that buying a property is a huge
purchase and is often an emotional one, but that is
where their professional personal service comes in.
They may even stock the fridge...
