Outer Layer of Triangles


CUTTING
Make templates for J and K, adding 1/4 ̋ seam allowances
to all sides of each shape. Punch holes at the dots and
transfer all reference lines, information, and grainline
arrows.


J: Cut 64: 16 from an accent, 16 from medium light, and
32 from background.


K: Cut 48: 16 from an accent and 32 from background.


JK UNITS



  1. Arrange 4 J’s. Join 2 J’s together, press the seam open,
    and trim the seam allowance to a generous 1/8 ̋.

  2. Add the remaining 2 J’s to each side of the JJ unit;
    make 16.

LARGE CORNER L TRIANGLES
Cut 2 squares 7 ̋ × 7 ̋ (12 ̋ × 12 ̋) from the background
fabric. Cut in half diagonally and set aside.

  1. Add 2 GHI diamond units to a CcDEF unit; press
    and trim. Make 4.

  1. Add 2 GHI diamond units to a JK unit; press and
    trim. Make 8.
