The A and B division along the outside edges
of the square continues when you draw concentric
smaller squares inside the original one.

As you draft the following blocks, you may need to draft
either a smaller concentric square or smaller 8-pointed
star design. You will notice that the underlying structure
you begin with, and which includes the A and B divi-
sions, continues along those 45° angles into the center.
Along any square’s edge, the A and B divisions continue,
so you can draft an 8-Pointed Star block quite easily.

Kaleidoscope Block

The simplest design to begin with
is, in fact, not a star but has some
characteristics of an 8-pointed star
drafting category, see page 44—
unequal divisions on its edge, eight
45° angles radiating from the center outward, etc.

TO DRAFT A 6 ̋ (FINISHED) BLOCK:

  1. Draw a 6 ̋ square and the Basic Underlying Structure
    (see page 45).

Draw the basic underlying structure (page 45).

  1. Connect A to B at the 4 corners. Connect A to A
diagonally through the center and B to B diagonally
    through the center.

Connect A’s to B’s, A’s to A’s, and B’s to B’s.

  1. Erase all unnecessary lines, leaving only seamlines.
