PROSPERITY KNOT 99

2

1 Bend a cord then, step by step, tie a ladder shape.

Prosperity Knot

“Keep prospering” is a traditional greeting among the Chinese. This knot is
ladder-shaped, denoting prosperity, hence the name. It is a variation of the
san caiknot (page 103), ascending into a taller ladder.

Tying
The tying technique here is similar to that of the san caiknot. The step of
the ladder can be lengthened to suit individual preferences. However, the
height of the step must take up at least two outer loops or otherwise it will
become a san caiknot.

Tips

  • Anchor the bends with push pins to avoid distorting the pattern.

  • Use a crochet hook or tweezers to help weave the cord through the pattern.
