Fold a cord, leave a suitable length
for the necklace loop, then tie a dou-
ble connection knot (1) followed by a round
brocade knot with six outer loops (4). Extend
the middle outer loop on each side of the
round brocade knot into a cloverleaf knot (2,
3). Use both cord ends to tie a bao menknot
(9). After completing the first side loop on the
right side, turn back the cord end and tie a
two-loop cloverleaf knot (5) together with the
side loop nearest the top right corner loop.
Do exactly the same on the top left side (6).
After completing the second last side loop on
the right side, extend it into a cloverleaf knot
(7). Repeat on the left side (8), making sure
both sides are identical. After completing bao
menknot 9, string the cord ends emerging
from the bottom of the knot with a big bead.
Fold another two cords and sew them onto
the two cord ends at the base of the bead to
make six cord ends. Finally, string each of the
six cord ends with beads.

The knot formation (1) in this necklace
is very unusual. The top comprises a
stone chime knot with a series of hui ling
knots extending from its center. The bottom
comprises a left and right cloud formation
knot. Using the tying technique of the crossed
hui lingknot, tie a series of hui lingknots, then,
using the tying technique of the cloud forma-
tion knot, tie the stone chime knot and the
left and right cloud formation knots. After
completing knot formation 1, tie three double
connection knots (2) and a button knot (3).
Fold two cords and sew them onto the bottom
of the button knot to give another four cord
ends. String all six cord ends with beads. Hook
another cord through the top corner loop of
the stone chime knot and tie a double connec-
tion knot (4). Leave enough cord for the neck-
lace loop, then tie a button knot.

Fold a cord, leave a suitable length for
the necklace loop, then tie a double
connection knot (1) followed by a stone chime
knot (12). Extend a round brocade knot with
six outer loops on each outer loop on the bot-
tom left and right of the stone chime knot (6,
11). Do not tighten the knot too much. Weave
a gold cord along the right of the stone chime
knot. After completing the third outer loop,
turn back the cord and tie a cloverleaf knot
(2) together with the second side loop. On
reaching round brocade knot 6, tie a clover-
leaf knot on every second outer loop (3–5).
Repeat the steps on the left (7–10), making
sure both sides are identical. After the gold
cord has been woven through the stone
chime knot, tighten the knot body and hide
the gold cord inside. Pull the original cord
ends down both sides of the jade ring into
the center and tie a round brocade knot (13).
Finally, tie a button knot (14).

Fold a cord, leave a suitable length for
the necklace loop, then tie a double
connection knot (1) followed by a winged pan
changknot (4). After completing the second
side loop on the top right side, extend it into
a ru yiknot (2). Do exactly the same thing on
the left side (3). After completing winged pan
changknot 4, tie a button knot (5) below it
and hide one of the cord ends inside the knot
body. Pull the other cord end through the
jade piece and sew it onto the button knot.
