146 RINGS

TEXT
BLACK

95

This ring is made from thick fuse
wire. Fold and twist a piece of wire
long enough to wrap around the finger –
or the wrist, for a bracelet. Tie the ends into
a round brocade knot. After gold-plating
the wire, insert porcelain beads in the outer
loops with strong glue.

Rings

See page 49 for photographs of applica-
tions 95–97.

Footwear Accents

See page 50 for photographs of applications 98–102.

96

This ring is made from two thin
plastic straws. Use a pencil or some
other cylindrical shape for the axis. Wrap
one of the plastic straws around the axis
and tie a button ring knot. Use the other
straw to tie another round following the
original weave. Cut the straw ends just
inside the ring.

97

This ring is made from a silver guitar
string. Tie a flat button knot. Wrap
each cord end once around the finger and
leave a suitable length for the ring. Insert
one cord end into the back of the knot
body. Weave the other cord end around
the button knot and then insert it also into
the back of the knot body.

98

Knot formations made from
leather cord can add glam-
our to boots. With the leather side
facing out, tie a ru yiknot (1), a pan
changknot (2) and a button tassel
(3). Use strong glue to attach the
knot formation to the boot.

99

Tie a leather cord into a round brocade
knot. Tie the ends and hide them in the
body of the knot. Use strong glue to attach the
knot to the top of the shoe.

100

Fold a multicolored cord and
tie a cloverleaf knot (1) followed
by a round brocade knot with six outer loops
(2). Extend the middle outer loops on each side
into a cloverleaf knot (3, 4). Bind the cord ends with
thread near the knot body, then brush out the ends
to make a tassel. Pin the knot formation to the sock.

102

Any number of knot formations
can be tied to make customized
high heel shoes or sandals. This knot forma-
tion comprises three double connection knots
(1–3) tied with a leather cord, with plenty of
cord end left for making the other shoe straps.
The finished knot formation and extra leather
cord will have to be passed to a shoe shop
for attaching to the buckle and the sole.

101

This knot formation can be used
to link two rings on the sides of
a shoe. Insert a cord through one of the rings
and tie a double connection knot (1). Insert
one of the cord ends through the other ring
and tie a double connection knot (3). Bring
the cord ends to the middle. Tie one into a
pan changknot (2) and use the other to em-
bellish its rim. Unite the cord ends, trim off
excess and glue under the knot formation.
