Fold a cord and tie a hui ling knot
(1) followed by a button tassel (2).
Fold another cord and tie a round brocade
knot (3), an inverted ru yiknot (4) and a double
connection knot (5). Hide the cord ends inside
the body of the hui ling knot. Sew the knot
formation onto one corner of the scarf.

Fold a cord and tie a cloverleaf knot (1) followed by a round
brocade knot with six outer loops (4). Extend the middle
outer loop on each side of the round brocade knot into a cloverleaf knot
(2, 3). On completing the round brocade knot, tie both cord ends into
a san caiknot (7). Tie the side loop on each side of the bottom right
outer loop of the san caiknot into a cloverleaf knot (5, 6). Make sure
the left and right sides are identical. On completing the san caiknot,
hide both cord ends inside the knot body and sew or glue the knot
formation onto the leather bag, as shown. Sew a porcelain bead at the
bottom of the knot formation to weigh down the front flap of the bag
so that it closes tightly.

A golden knot formation adds sophistication to a brown
velvet handbag (or any other type of bag). First, tie two
crane knots (1, 2) (see Chinese Knotting, page 80) and sew them onto
the top left and right sides of the bag flap. Then fold a gold cord and
tie a round brocade knot (3). Tie both cord ends into a six unity knot
(8) and extend the two double connection knots on each side into a
round brocade knot (4–6). On completing the six unity knot, tie both
cord ends into a round brocade knot (9). Hide one cord end inside the
knot body. Tie the other into a loop and sew it onto the knot body.
Finally, sew this knot formation onto the handbag.

The knot formation on this leather handbag is made with
two leather cords with their leather sides facing out. Tie
the first leather cord into a pan changknot (3) and extend the corner
loop on each side into a cloverleaf knot (1, 2). Hide both cord ends
inside the knot body. Fold the second leather cord and tie a ru yiknot
(4). Use both cord ends of the ru yiknot to embellish the rim of the
pan changknot, then tie a round brocade knot with six outer loops
(5) beneath it. Sew one cord end into the knot body. Tie the other
one into a cloverleaf knot (6), then sew it also into the knot body.
Use strong glue to attach the knot formation to the handbag.
