This simple but attractive knot
formation is suitable for hanging
on the rearview mirror of a car. Fold a cord,
leaving an adequate loop at the top, then tie
a double connection knot (1), a winged pan
changknot (2) and a button knot (3).118
This knot formation is for
a string of mantra beads.
Fold a cord through the hook on the
leading bead and tie a double connec-
tion knot (1), a pan changknot (2) and
a button knot (3). String both cord
ends with five beads, then sew the
ends into two previously completed

Fold a cord through the ring on the umbrella handle and tie a double connection knot (1), three consecu-
tive button ring knots (2–4) and a double connection knot (5). Then tie a multiple winged pan changknot
(8). Extend the corner loops on each side of the multiple winged pan changknot into a cloverleaf knot (6, 7). Continue
downward, tying a double connection knot (9), three button ring knots (10–12) and a double connection knot (13).
Sew a folded cord onto the bottom part of double connection knot 13 to form tassel cords. Wrap silk threads around
the tassel cords as embellishment. Finally, insert beads in the loops of the knot formation, as shown at left.120
A knot formation tied with gold
cords can brighten up a dangling
talisman in a vehicle. Fold a cord through the
back of a suction holder and tie a ru yiknot
(1). Pull the cord ends through the top of the
plastic wrapper containing the talisman and
tie them together. Fold another cord through
the bottom part of the plastic wrapper and
tie a double connection knot (2), a good luck
