CROSSED HUI LING KNOT 79

Crossed Hui Ling Knot

This is a hui lingknot (page 90) with an empty cross-like shape in the center,
hence the name. It is formed by extending the body of the knot at the four
corners facing the central space. This also serves to strengthen the knot. An
ornament can be hung from the center of the knot although it is attractive just
by itself.

Tying

Based on the tying technique of the hui lingknot, this crossed knot is made
by tying further into the inner side of each corner facing the knot center.
Upon completion, cord end A will stick out from the knot center while
cord end B will remain outside the knot. Cord end A can either be pushed
through the body of the knot and used to hang ornaments or other items or
both cord ends can be hidden inside the knot body.

Tip

  • Keep cord end A longer for tying. If you run short of cord, hook up a new
cord with a corner loop or any side loop in order to complete the knot.
