DOUBLE HUI LING KNOT 81
2 The first hui lingknot completed.
1 Tie a hui lingknot. Upon reaching the overlapped
corner, pull out one outer loop from within and the
other one from without the knot body to form the
main “trunk” of the second knot.
Double Hui Ling Knot
This knot comprises two overlapping hui lingknots (page 90), hence the
“double” in its name. The knot can be hung vertically to decorate a hanging
ornament or worn horizontally on a belt.
Tying
First tie a hui lingknot. Upon reaching the corner to be overlapped with the
second knot, lengthen the pair of outer loops to form the main “trunk” of the
second knot. Then carry on completing the first knot. Pull cord end A over
the hollow center and through the right side of the overlapped corner to tie
the second knot. After completing all the outer loops of the second knot, pull
cord end A through the overlapped corner and continue with the second
knot.
Tip
- Tighten the cord evenly to ensure that both knots end up identical.
