Hui Ling Knot
This is a square knot with a hollow center, hence the name. Basically, the
“door space” of the bao menknot (page 70) is filled with a pan changknot
(page 64) to create a hollow center, in which can be inserted an ornamental
object such as a bead or piece of ceramic.
Tying
This knot is an extension of the long pan changknot (see Chinese Knotting,
page 74). After completing the knot, cord end A can either be hidden inside
or pulled through the body of the knot and placed with cord end B on one
corner for hanging an ornament, tassel or another knot formation.
Tips
- Make sure cord end A is longer since it is being used for tying.
- For beginners who underestimate the cord length, a new cord can be hooked
up with a corner loop or any side loop in order to carry on.
