A ticket to ride around Earth in
SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft is
expected to cost millions of dollars.

SpaceX aims to launch up to four
tourists into a super-high orbit,
possibly by the end of next year.
The private company is working
with Space Adventures for the flight,
officials announced Tuesday. Ticket
prices have not been announced but
are expected to cost millions of dollars.
Space Adventures has helped put
tourists into orbit with trips to the
International Space Station, working
with the Russian space program.
For this trip, paying customers
will skip the space station and
instead orbit two to three times
higher, or roughly 500 miles to 750
miles, above Earth.
The tourist flight “will forge a path
to making spaceflight possible for all
people who dream of it,” SpaceX
President Gwynne Shotwell said in a
statement.
SpaceX will use the same kind of
Dragon capsule that will carry NASA
astronauts to the space station,
possibly in a few months. The
capsule has flown once in space so
far, making its debut last year in a
successful test flight without a crew.

The National Basketball
Association has finished
its All-Star Weekend.
It’s a good time to check
in on professional
basketball.
LeBron James is showing once again
why he may be the greatest NBA player
of all time. At age 35, James has
revamped his game to be the Los
Angeles Lakers’ Number 1 playmaker.
James is leading the NBA in assists with
almost 11 per game. One more thing: He
is still scoring 25 points a game.
Any questions about whether James
and his new teammate Anthony Davis
could play well together have been
answered during the first part of the
season. Led by the dynamic duo of
James and Davis, the Lakers have a
record of 41-12 (41 wins and 12 losses).
As great as James has been this
season, he may not be the best player in
the NBA. That title may belong to
Giannis Antetokounmpo, the 6-foot-11-
inch Milwaukee Bucks forward.
Antetokounmpo, who is called the
“Greek Freak,” i s averaging 30 points per
game while pulling down 13.5 rebounds.
He is also leading the Bucks to an NBA
best record of 46-8.
One surprise team is the To ronto
Raptors. Last year’s NBA champions lost
their best player when Kawhi Leonard
signed with the Los Angeles Clippers
last summer. Leonard was the Most
Valuable Player when the Raptors beat
the Golden State Warriors in the 2019
NBA Finals. Still, the Raptors are
posting a 40-15 record.
How are the Raptors doing it without
their big star? They are sharing the ball
and the scoring load. Six Raptors are
scoring 10 or more points per game.
Not all the teams in the NBA are
playing well, but all of the teams are
scoring big-time! With everyone
chucking up (and making) three-point
shots, all 30 teams in the league are
averaging more than 102 points per
game. Six teams, including our own
Washington Wizards, are averaging

more than 115 points.
Speaking of the Wizards, the local
team still has a chance to make the
playoffs despite a woeful record of 20-

  1. That puts the Wizards only three
games behind the Orlando Magic for the
eighth and final playoff spot in the
    Eastern Conference.
So can the Wizards make the
postseason? I don’t see why not. The Magic
players are not exactly world beaters, and
the Wizards have Bradley Beal, who is one
    of the NBA’s leading scorers.
If the Wizards want to make the
playoffs, they will have to play better
defense. The Washington team has been
    awful this season, allowing its
opponents to pour in almost 120 points
per game. That’s the worst in the NBA.
Of course, if the Wizards make the
playoffs, they will run into some big
    challenges: the Bucks and
    Antetokounmpo.
I doubt the Wizards will be able to
    stop the Greek Freak.

The Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo, left, may be the best NBA player

Legendary player LeBron James,

this dynamic duo, the Lakers have a
record of 41 wins, 12 losses this season.

Adapted from an
online discussion.

Dear Carolyn:
My husband is
leaving me
because he’s in
love with
someone else. I’m
29 weeks
pregnant, we have a 3-year-old
and a 5-year-old, and we just
moved to a different state a few
months ago. Now I’m in a new
state without friends or family,
pregnant and abandoned by my
husband, trying to explain to my
children why daddy won’t come
home anymore.
I’m just shattered. I have no
one to turn to right now, and my
friends and family are all in a
completely different state. I
want to move back but how
would that even work? I’m not
even sure my old job would
rehire me since I trained my
replacement, and I’m pregnant, I
don’t even know how I’d begin a
job search.
Please tell me it gets better,
because I’m reeling and I don’t
know what to do.
— Reeling

Reeling: Wow.
Okay. This answer could go
two ways, the comfort route or
the practical. And I’m thinking
practical right now, because that

can take you to much better
sources of comfort than I could
ever be.
It’s not true you have “no one
to turn to.” You have these out-
of-state friends and family. They
can’t babysit for you on short
notice, no, but you can call them,
lean on them, brainstorm with
them, go stay with them or have
one or three of them come stay
with you as you pack up to move
closer to them.
You might also be surprised at
how many new acquaintances,
even near-strangers, will rally for
someone in your spot. (Wouldn’t
you?) So don’t be shy.
And don’t wonder whether
your old job would rehire you.
Ask. Say the move didn’t work
out and you’re coming back and
are there any openings?
That is, if you think going
back is the answer. You could
also go full badass and put down
roots where you are — I have no
doubt you could manage it,
because people do, and as all five
of us know who saw the Anthony
Hopkins movie “The Edge”:
“What one man can do, another
can do” — and a woman can do
backward and in heels.
Just a little #$%!-my-life
humor.
The answer in general to the
“How would that even work?”
question is, always, one
increment at a time. If you need

a place to get the big feelings
out, so you can be capable again
of calm, higher-order planning,
then I suggest therapy ASAP.
Hang in there. He left because
he’s not strong; you’ll get
through this because you are.

Re: Newly single: Many hugs —
you’re not alone!! For right now,
one foot in front of the other.
Reach out to anyone you know
who seems discreet, or to clergy,
and ask for a few things: lawyer
recommendations, mom group
recommendations, therapist
recommendation. Maybe you
can talk to your kids’
pediatrician.
You’re probably at higher risk
for postpartum depression now.
Be really nice to yourself. I’m a
single mom, and this stuff is
HARD. It’s okay if the kids eat
cereal or PBJ for dinner a few
nights a week, watch too much
TV, etc. You are doing amazing,
you’ll get through the day, week,
month, year, and will be okay at
the end of it.
