Ferguson cuts Lucy’s
tongue out (s5, Ep 6)
“I think this is one of the most
horrific scenes I’ve seen on
television, let alone Australian
television. It’s so graphic. It’s
the double scene of Lucy
(Sally-Anne Upton) being in the
[dentist’s] chair and Ferguson
coming in and doing what
she does, then she stumbles
into the exercise yard and
you see all that blood. She
tumbles into Vera (Kate
Atkinson) and Vera’s white
shirt is covered in blood.
Those images are seared
into your memory. It’s also
a great character moment for
Ferguson, because it means
she’s going to be Top Dog.”
Will buries
Ferguson alive (s5, Ep 12)
“What an incredible scene.
The simple fact that Will is
a very good person, but he
completely crosses the line...
He’s burying her alive and
[the camera’s] cutting from
him putting the soil on the
coffin to the incredible shot
of her in the wooden box with
the cigarette lighter, and she
sees the drawing of Bea. It’s
a really great moment – the
ultimate death.”
Allie takes on
Ferguson (s5, Ep 7)
“The reason I love this
scene is it’s a big turning
point for Allie. She’s seeking
revenge for Ferguson killing
Bea, the love of her life. We
also get another glimpse
of how psycho Ferguson
is when we see her lift Allie
up by her throat. Everyone
tries to get her and she
just violently pushes them
away, then at the end she’s
like, ‘Anyone else?!’ You
just think, ‘No-one can
ever touch Ferguson.’”
