Foxtel INSIDER
This month, ALICE MASCIA, Chief Product and Strategy Officer at Foxtel, explains seven
ways to get the most from your subscription thanks to Foxtel’s latest innovations
Q:
What is Foxtel GO
and how do I get it?
A:
Foxtel GO is Foxtel’s
mobile streaming
service, which lets you
stream programs from
your subscription in
HD, through a laptop,
smartphone or tabletπ.
You can stream
simultaneously on two
devices, allowing you
and your family members to watch live
sports or binge movies and TV shows,
whenever you want and wherever you
are. The best part is that it comes as part
of your Foxtel subscription at no extra
cost. And if you are a Multiroom customer,
you can ‘cast’ programs from your device
and watch them on the big screen with
Chromecast and AirPlay. Download the
Foxtel GO app or, for more information,
visit foxtel.com.au/foxtelgo
the series if available.
When you select this
option, your iQ box will
record all future episodes of a season
automatically. We’ve also introduced
Team Link, which lets sports lovers with
iQ3 and iQ4 boxes schedule recordings
for every upcoming game involving their
favourite team. The Team Link function
works with Foxtel’s coverage of every
game of the NRL, AFL, AFLW, A-League,
Super Rugby and NBL.
Q:
What does streaming and On
Demand mean? Do I need a special
TV? What’s the benefit of streaming?
A:
Simply put, streaming is the delivery
of Foxtel content via the internet,
be it through wifi or a direct connection
to your household router. Streaming really
enhances your Foxtel subscription by
opening up a wealth of movies and TV
shows from our On Demand library that
you can watch where and when you want.
Subscribers can stream on iQ4, iQ3 and
Foxtel GO, as well as download shows
and movies on older internet-connected
boxes such as iQ2. Connect your box now
and enjoy a new world of entertainment,
at no additional subscription cost.
Q:
What’s the benefit of watching
sport on 4K Ultra HD and how can
I access it? Will there be more sport
broadcast in 4K Ultra HD this year?
A:
Yes, and then some. Cricket in
4K Ultra HD was just the beginning.
A massive line-up of the 2019 winter sport
codes is now available in 4K Ultra HD,
with select match-ups across NRL, AFL,
Super Rugby and Women’s Football
lighting up Australian living rooms. The
Formula 1 series is available in 4K Ultra
HD, as well as the biggest sporting event
of the year, the 2019 Rugby World Cup
in Japan. Foxtel’s 4K Ultra HD comes
at no additional cost for SPORTS pack
subscribers with the HD pack and iQ4#.
Never miss your
favourite AFL club in
action with Team Link
Q:
How do I remotely record
a TV show or movie?
A:
The My Foxtel app lets you browse
Foxtel’s TV guide or search for your
favourite shows using your smartphone or
tablet. When you find something you like,
just select ‘Record’ so the recording will
be scheduled on your iQ box. If you forget
to record, just connect your iQ3 or iQ4 to
the internet and look for your show in the
On Demand section. There are thousands
of episodes already included in your Foxtel
plan. Download the My Foxtel app or go
to foxtel.com.au/myfoxtel
Q:
What is series linking and how
do I take advantage of it?
A:
Series Link is a great way to simplify
recording your favourite complete
seasons at the touch of a button. When
you record a program using either the
My Foxtel app or on screen using your
iQ box, you’ll be prompted to Series Link
