For this reason, theopening

bidder usually passes at his next

blacksuits, the bidding is likely

tobecome spirited, and your

side will be better placed ifyou

getyour heart suit in nowbefore

supporting diamonds later.

4 .Pass.There is noneed to

panic becauseofyour single-

ton diamond.Theodds are very

good that the next player will re-

spond tohis partner’sdouble by

bidding a suitorone notrump.

Even ifhe passes instead, ex-

pecting todefeatone diamond

doubled, your partner still has a

chance torescue himselfifhe is

unhappy with that contract.
