Herinterest inearly learning also

School. Ballet, especially
furthering thegiftedyoung to
attendtheNational Ballet School
in Toronto,becamea lifelong
artistic interest.
ThefamilymovedtoMontreal
where Faye furthered her
interest in great art. Shebecame
amode stcollector of paintings
andsculpture.
Whenthechildrenweregrown
FayeandHarrymovedtoToronto.
ThereFayebecamea student
oftheharp.Afterafewyears
business tookthemtoLondon,
England,wheretheyspent the
next twenty years. Fayeindulged
herpassionforartandmusic in
Londonandin travels throughout
EuropeandJapan.
Herlast twoyearswerespent
in herhomein Torontowith her
husbandof sixty-sevenyears
where sheenjoyedthelove
andsupportofherchildrenand
grandchildren whomsheadored
unconditionally.She has left
countless friendsfromwherever
shelived.Admiredandloved,she
will begreatlymissed.

Conti was bornonNovember27, 1923
in Roorkee,India, toJack andMay
Stevens..Inher early years, Conti
travelledextensively with herparents
withinIndia, as well as toEngland,
EuropeandMalta. Sheattended
KimminsSchoolnearPuneinIndia,
andlaterattendedboarding school
in England, butreturnedtoIndia at
theoutsetofWWII,whereshejoined
ArmyIntelligence. Thereshemarried
Captain John Kidd,andgavebirth to
her daughterElizabeth. Sadly, John
waskilledin actioninBurma in 1945.
Attheendofthewar,Conti travelled
toEnglandwhereshemarrieda film
maker,WallieHewitson.
Conti andfamilymovedtoNairobi,
Kenya for3years, whereherson
Andrew was born, thenemigrated
toCanada, where Walliejoinedthe
NationalFilmBoard.Thefamily
settledin Ottawa andlaterin Pointe
Claire,Quebec, whereBelinda was
born. Conti was activein thelocal
schoolboard,the church, and
enjoyed pottery-making, square
dancing andraising herfamily.In
1961 thefamily travelledtoNigeria,
whereWallie helpedsetupa
FederalFilmUnit.Later, whileliving
in Beaconsfield,Quebec, Conti and
WallietravelledthroughoutAfrica
tomakefilmsforC.I.D.A.In 1971,
Conti,WallieandBelindamoved
toGloucest er,Ontario.ThereConti
studied MuseumTechnology at
Algonquin Collegeandworkedfor
many yearsfortheCanadian Museum
of History. Conti laterworked ona
number of valuableprojectsforthe
Gloucester Arts Council andLibrary.
Onceretired,Conti andWallie
travelledwidely in EuropeandNorth
America. Forseveral yearsthey lived
in a Kingston high-riseoverlooking
theStLawrence, but ultimately
settledin aretirementresidencein
Ottawa wheretheyenjoyedexcellent
careandthevisitsoffa milyand
friends. Conti lostWalliein 2010.
Conti is precededindeath by her
parents, herbrotherHugh andher
husband,J.Walford Hewitson.
Sheis survivedby herchildren
Elizabeth, BelindaandAndrew, her
grandchildren--Sandra, Jennifer,
Heidi, Morgan andErin andgreat
grandchildren--Sophie,Alex, Ryan,
Ben, Kate,andCharlie.Thefamily
wishestoextendtheirgratitudetothe
RedOak, andtheHazeldean Gardens
retirementresidencesfortheirgreat
care,andsupportinherfinaldays.

SchoolofNursing in 1961. Many
ofhernursing classmatesbecame
life-long friends with whom
shesharedlaughsandreunion
weekends. Jean continued on
to TheUniversity ofWestern
Ontario,whereshecompletedher
Bachelorof ScienceinNursing.
Following graduationshesailed
awayonherhoneymoon, and
begana57yearlovestory with
Bob.Together,they raised 3
childrenandcreateda full and
meaningful life.Despitewhat Dad
wouldsay, Momwas in charge
andalways hadthelastword!
Jean andBobandfamily spent
many wonderful summersin
Pointeau BarilonGeorgian Bay.
Whethershewasonthedock
watching hergrandkidsdiveinto
theBay,ordaring toenterthe
chilly watersherself (amusing
family with hertwo-hourentries),
Jean was happiest surroundedby
herlovedones.
Inthewinter months,Jean loved
thecozinessoftheirhomein
Collingwood where shecould
befoundputteringin thekitchen
orworkingononeofher many
crosswordandjigsaw puzzles.
Thanksgiving andNewYears
were always best celebrated
in Collingwood around the
family table.

his side.Predeceasedby his wife
of58years, Janet(nee Langdon),
andhis son, James. Heis survived
by his son, John; James’s wife,
Lynne (Benjamin and Jacob);
daughter,Sarah (WilliamSpotton,
Mackenzie,John,Sophia); and
son, Peter (Jennifer,Rebecca
andCharlotte).
Peterwas borninToronto,the
fourthof six childrenofFredrick
andDorothy (neeHillary) van
Nostrand.He grewupon
NordlandsFarm,the family
homesteadinVandorfOntario.
Heattended Aurora High School
wherehemet Janet, andthe
UniversityofToronto,completing
hismedicaldegreein 1959. He
workedas an interninVancouver
fortwoyearsanda GP in Maple
forseveral yearsbefore returning
toUofT tospecializeinPathology.
This training ledtoafellowship at
Cambridgein Englandin 1967, and
apositionintheDepartmentof
Pathology at theTorontoGeneral
Hospital in 1968.
He workedfor20 yearsat
TGH, servedas Deputy Chiefof
Pathology for10 andachievedthe
rankofProfessorattheUniversity
ofToronto.Inhisprofessional
careerPeterwas heldin high
regardby all whoassociatedwith
him.Theseincludedparticularly
residents in Pathology and
other medical specialties, staff
surgeons at TGH andcolleague
pathologists in both thehospital
andtheUniversityDepartments
of Pathology. Hewas a superb
teacher,awidely respected
expertinthepracticeofsurgical
pathology, and an affable
administrator.In1975,hemoved
his family back to Nordlands
andtookoverthebeeffarming
operation.In 1989, hejoined
MDS Laboratories(now Life
Labs) whereheservedas Medical
Director until his retirement
in 1998.
Janet passedaway threeyears
ago,and Peter missed her
terribly. Shespent herlastdays
at Holly Park, thespecial place
they built together.PerPeter’s
wishe s,healsospent his last
days at Holly Park. Despitehis
accomplishments as an ENT
pathologist and professor,he
thoughtofhimself as a fourth-
generationfarmer, husbandand
father.Heoftensaidthat his
greatest achievement in lifewas
persuadingJanettomarryhim.

Caldwell for enabling palliative
careat Holly Parkandproviding
great supportforthe family.
Cremationandaprivatefamily
servicehavealready taken place,

    Mustangs’ football team. “Bigs”
    hadastrong passionforthe
    outdoors which hesharedwith
    family andfriends. Heenjoyed
    leading canoetrips, paddling and
    rowing at GoHomeBay, walking
    in theforests andfieldsofRobRoy
    andback country skiing atLake
    O’Hara.Travels furtherafieldtook
    Bill andJanettoNewZealand,
    Patagonia, Europeandnumerous
    timestotheirbeloved Arctic. Bill
    will be rememberedforhis puns,
    as adevotedhusbandandfather,
    loyal supporter ofclosefriends
    andaboveall, asonewhotreated
    allpeoplewithrespect.
    At his wish, no service will
