Write a phonemic transcription for words A-H and associate the phonemic

transcription with syllables and metrical feet. Be sure to make use of the Maximal

Onset Principle for all word-internal consonant clusters. Some of these words can

be associated with different foot configurations, depending on dialect. (For a

discussion of syllables and feet, see Linguistics, pp. 126- 140.)

Word A is displayed with phonemic transcriptions and with syllables and feet, as

a model.
