along with four Staggerwings comprising
three different models including a rare
1935 B17E, two 1940s D17Ss, and a post-
war G17S. Non-radial aircraft included
a Fairchild 24H, a pair of Interstate
S-1A Cadets, Porterfield CP-65, along
with Luscombes, Pipers, Cessnas, Globe
Swifts, and a Stinson 108.
Ione also had Warbirds including
a P-51H, FG-1D Corsair, three Twin
Beeches, T-28, Mk. 4 Harvard, Tora
Zero, and a replica NA-50. Dennis
Sanders mesmerized the group with Sea
Fury 924 while doing some amazing
smoke passes. All in all, the one-day
event was a great gathering and hopefully
there will be many more. AC

Sal Rubino brought P-51D Grim Reaper to Madera from Hollister.

At Ione, one of the oldest aircraft on display was Chris Galloway’s
1929 Monocoupe Model 113 powered by a Velie M-5 radial of 65-hp. Staggerwings making a pass at Ione.

Fred Patterson’s 1930 Stinson SM-8A Junior Special lifts off from Ione.

Classic lines of a Waco cabin making a pass at Ione. As can be seen,
the aircraft almost has a sesquiplane configuration.

At Madera, Ye Olde Pub hopped passengers all day.
