Brand-new 27th FS ace 1st Lt. Daniel Kennedy
paints another swastika on his colorful P-38G-
10-LO 42-12874 coded HV*4. He had named it The
BEANTOWN Boys after Boston, his hometown.
Kennedy and 42-12874, a former 82nd FS aircraft,
had recently shot down three Bf 109s over the
island of Pantelleria on 9 June 1943, bringing his
victory total to five. This plane was destroyed in a
crash-landing while being flown by another pilot
on 27 July.
