1st Lt. Wilbur S. “Will” Hattendorf, a pilot of the 82nd FG‘s 95th
FS, poses with his assigned P-38F-15-LO 43-2181, which he
had named My Baby after his wife. 43-2181 was one of the 60
Lightnings known to have been ferried from England to North
Africa by 78th FG pilots in early 1943. For the detailed story of
