speaking nation by area. Its 2.78 million square kilometres include some of the world's

Argentina is a plain, rising from the Atlantic to the Chilean border and the towering
Andes peaks. Aconcagua (6,960 m) is the highest peak in the world outside Asia. Bolivia
and Paraguay border Argentina on the north and Uruguay and Brazil on the east. The
swampy and partly wooded Gran Chaco is the northern area bordering Bolivia and
Paraguay. South of that is the rolling, fertile Pampas, rich in agriculture and sheep- and
cattle-grazing and support most of the population. Further south is Patagonia, a region
of cold, arid steppes. The southern tip of Argentina, known as Cape Horn, is said to be
one of the global stormiest locations.

Population
Argentina’s population is more than 44.9 million, making it the world’s 32nd most
populous country.
