ignon Parker grew up on the
Northern Beaches of New
South Wales – an area which
she recalls as being rich in wildlife. She
remembers abundant wallabies, echidnas,
wombats, lizards and birdlife ... not to
mention the odd wild pig escaping from
the Oxford Falls Farm which would ‘just
about scare the pants off you’ if you were
to encounter one at night.
Some of the best years in this artist’s
early life were spent attending East
Sydney Technical College which is now
the National Art School. She enrolled in a
course in Design and studied under John
Coburn’s watchful eye.
“What a lovely man he was,”
she recalls. “I went on to work in
advertising agencies and art studios ...
I thought ‘surely this is not what they
call work, I am having too much fun’. I
was engaged in an environment where
creative talents all melted into one big
cooking pot.”
Marriage and children followed,
before Mignon found a new outlet for
her creativity through freelance work.
