The Find My app has been updated of late to make it more efficient in finding your lost devices. It has also incorporated the Find My
Friends app, so you can use it to track the whereabouts of anyone who has shared their location with you.Get the most out of Find My

Activate Bluetooth
The Find My service can now track
missing devices even if they’re aren’t
connected to the internet by using Bluetooth.
Go to System Preferences and turn it on.2
Launch the app
On Mac or iOS, launch the Find My app
and all of the devices that you and your family
members use (if you have set up Family
Sharing) will be listed and shown on a map.3
Select a device
If you misplace a device, click on it
and a small info panel will appear. Click on
the small ‘i’ icon to display the location and
current battery charge of the missing device.4
Play a sound
If you click ‘Play Sound’ you can make
the missing device heard. If it was misplaced
less locally click on ‘Directions’ to open the
Maps app and trace a route to it.5
Mark as lost
If you’re struggling to locate your device,
click on ‘Activate’ under Mark As Lost and
you’ll be able to lock your rogue device, track
its whereabouts and provide contact info.6
Erase your device
If there is little hope of retrieving your
device then one last thing you can do is
remotely erase the contents to protect your
privacy. Click on ‘Erase This Device’.As the Find My app has incorporated the Find My Friends app, you can also use it to track the whereabouts of your friends and family.Find people

Click People
In the Find My Mac app, click on the
‘People’ tab in the left column and everyone
who has shared their location with you
will be listed and their locations will be
pinpointed on a map in the main screen.2
Get info
Click on a person in the list and a small
info panel will appear next to their location
on the map. Click on the small ‘i’ icon to
expand the information available for their
location and reveal more key options.3
Make contact
You will be presented with options to
‘Contact’ the person (which will display
their full contact details), get directions to
them and create notification alerts for when
they change locations.People alerts in Find My are good for checking if someone got home safely.
