What’s new in

iOS 13.3.1?

A

new iOS 13 update (13.3.1) was released
back in January that came with the usual
array of bug fixes as well as a rather
interesting new feature. When concerns were
raised that the new ultra-wideband wireless chip
in the iPhone 11 could be used to breach security
and track the user’s location, Apple added a
new toggle switch to disable location tracking for
networking and wireless functions.
The iPhone 11 is the first device to use the ultra-
wideband wireless chip technology (UWB) and
it allows data to be transmitted quickly between
nearby devices, similar to Wi-Fi or Bluetooth
and can pinpoint a location down to just a few
centimetres, potentially giving features like AirDrop
spatial awareness so that it can understand
exactly whose iPhone you are pointing at. If you
don’t require this then follow these steps to learn
how to turn off the Networking & Wireless setting.
