Copy to Word
In the list of suggestions, select ‘Copy
to Word’. As you do, Word will instantly load
and you’ll see a spinning wheel and a prompt
telling you the document is being imported.

5

Save the document
You can now read the document on the
screen but, as you’ll notice, you cannot edit it.
If you wish to make some changes, then tap
‘Save a Copy’ via the top-screen prompt.

6

Store in iCloud
If you tap ‘More’, you can save the file
to iCloud Drive, choosing one of the folders.
Word will automatically convert the file to a
docx which should be easier to work with.

Convert ODT documents
without an app
If you don’t want to download an app
to your iPad just to open an ODT file,
you could use the online converter
Zamzar. Save your ODT file to Files
then go to zamzar.com. Tap ‘Add
Files’, go to Browse and look for your
file. Select convert to .doc or .docx
and tap ‘Convert Now’. You can then
tap ‘View’ to see it.

Knowledge base

Multiple files
OOReader supports all ODF file
formats created using OpenOffice or
LibreOffice. When it is installed you
can open docs from Mail, Files or other
apps by selecting the share button and
choosing ‘Copy to OOReader’.

Size limits
OOReader’s free version limits
ODT documents to 100 pages
and doesn’t allow them to be any
larger than 20MB. Password-
protected documents cannot be
opened unless you go premium
(this removes ads too).

Open from the cloud
Documents saved in the cloud –
whether that’s iCloud, Dropbox,
Google Drive, OneDrive or
Box – are opened by tapping +,
selecting the service and looking
for the file you wish to view.

If you only want to view rather than edit a document,
consider using this handy free app

You don’t need to worry about opening Apple Pages or Microsoft Office
documents because they (like RTF, PDF and TXT) are automatically supported.

Be connected
Since the files are uploaded to
OOReader’s server in order to be
converted into a viewable format,
you need to be connected to
the internet.
