TRAILER

TALK

MARVEL/DISNEY +
John Nugent (News Editor) So. Our fi rst
look at Marvel’s Disney+ shows. Even if it’s in
a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it 30-second trailer.
Are we excited?
Joanna Moran (Photography Director):
I am very excited by WandaVision. I think it
looks really fun. And quite crazy.
Ben Travis (Online Staff Writer): I think
The Falcon And The Winter Soldier is
exciting because of what was teed up at the
end of Avengers: Endgame. Presumably this
is a kind of stop-gap towards a full-on ‘Sam
As Captain America’ situation.
Jamie Inglis (Deputy Art Director): I’m
excited for Loki. There could be time-travel!
John:I’m hoping it’s going to be like
Quantum Leap, but with Norse gods.
Ben:Cap’s shield!
Nick de Semlyen (Features Editor) :So
he’s using a tree for shield target practice?
Aliyah Allen (Designer):He won’t look
as good as Steve Rogers with the shield.
John:Well, how can he even hold it? He’s
not strong enough! He hasn’t got the
super serum.
Alex Godfrey (Contributor):That’s why
he’s practising on trees.
Joanna:Groot wouldn’t be happy
about this.
Ben:Good to see Falcon’s still got the suit.
Nick:And there’s the Winter Soldier. Great
haircut. Great coat.
John:Right.WandaVisiontime now. A lot to
take in here. Get ready on the pause button.
Alex:There’s shades ofManiachere — that
trippy Netflix show.
Chris Lupton (Creative Director):I think
this show is going to be all about PTSD.
Ben:Is it covering different decades?
John:Yeah — it looks to be covering the
1950s through to the 1970s. And that’s the
Scarlet Witch’s original comic costume, with
the red leather horns.
Ben:She’s pregnant in this shot. And then in
a later shot you see dummies flying in the air
— she’s got babies. But are they real?
John:It has a bit of aPleasantvillevibe.
Stuart Manning (Designer):That’s the
Dick Van Dyke Showset. That one has a bit
ofThe Brady BunchmeetsMarried With
Children. I’m just really into old USsitcoms!
John:Oh wow — it’s really specific, then?
Stuart:They’ve got everything accurate,
right down to the furniture.
Chris:It’ll be all the shows that Wanda
watched when she was a kid. Growing up in

Sokovia in the ’90s, watching American
imports arriving later than the rest of the
world. It’s her mind’s view of an ideal life.
John: So this is how Wanda deals with the
trauma of Vision’s death — journeying into
her mind. And maybe pregnant with Vision’s
robot babies.
Nick: Great shirt-and-sweater combo from
Vision here.
Ben: Vision’s outfi ts are extremely Next
Directory.
Ben: Loki!
Alex: What are those initials on his prison
uniform, then?
John: It’s the TVA — the Time Variance
Authority. They’re kind of like time cops in
the comics — an organisation dedicated to
policing the multiverse and making sure
nobody screws with the timey-wimey stuff
too much.
Ben: This Loki is a real-time variant, isn’t
he? He comes from the universe that they go
back into in Endgame, and then he escapes
with the Tesseract. He’s an alt-universe Loki.
Presumably the TVA are going to force him
to go back into his original universe?
John: Perhaps. Thought the TVA didn’t
arrest the Avengers for all their time
shenanigans.
Jamie: Yet.
Ben: It’ll be good to see Tom Hiddleston
properly back in this role. He’s been off the
grid a little bit, doing theatre.
John: And he says he’s going to burn it to the
ground. This is naughty Loki, of course. Not
nice Loki from Ragnarok.
Ben: Loki’s back on his bullshit!
