in the fluid above the hair cells. As the body accelerates or changes
orientation with respect to gravity, the inertia of these little stones
contributes to bending the hairs of the sensory cells. These tiny rocks
in our inner ears contribute to generating and amplifying the sensory
signals that allow us to maintain balance as we move through the
world—not so bad, having these rocks in the head.
