Julie Cowdy
I am a photo artist. I live in the Howardian Hills area of North Yorkshire. My style is informed and inspired by
my journey through art – formerly being a fashion and textile designer, an art teacher and interior designer,
before falling in love with photography ten years ago.My work covers many different genres, including narrative and still life, with floral subjects my favourite.Through the post-processing techniques that I have learnt from Sebastian Michaels, I often blend my original
images with painted and photographed textures. I am aiming for a different approach that combines my love
of fine art and the lens. I hope the resulting photo artistry offers something multi-layered, both in terms of what
people see and how they respond.Some of my recent achievements include: a month long exhibition at Helmsley Arts centre, CPAGB Award
of Photographic Merit from Photographic Alliance of GB, images accepted for exhibition by YPU, and at the
Scottish, Cheltenham and Yorkshire International Salons and two Still Life images shortlisted for International
