three was clearly in her element. “What do you
think of the fruit?” she asked as she pointed to a
plate of oranges, papayas, grapes and bananas.
“What’s your favorite?” But the cheerful appear-
ance to highlight early nutrition was just the first
part of Kate’s day: After about an hour with the
kids, she was quietly ushered into a nearby office,
where she joined Giovanna Fletcher, the host of
the popular Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast. In

In Wales moms and dads “were relating to her as a parent
rather than this very important person,” says Asante.Wherever she goes, Kate charms her littlest fans—and she delights in them toowhat she wants her three children to most remem-
ber from their childhoods. “I had never heard her
speak so openly in this way before,” says Fletcher,
herself a mom of three boys. “I remember having
a moment when we were in there, and [I thought],
‘I can’t believe this is happening.’ And I was trying
to act like it was completely normal, and it’s not!”
