Daily Mail, Thursday, March 5, 2020^ Page 23Mr Sanders promises a huge
increase in public spending on
areas such as free university
education and healthcare, as
well as a heavy wealth tax and
company shares for workers.
Many believe his far-Left
agenda simply makes him une-
lectable as president.
The Sanders campaign has
accused the Democratic estab-
lishment of plotting to ensure
he doesn’t get the nomination,
as it did when he stood against
Hillary Clinton in 2016.
Mr Trump, who repeated this
claim in a tweet yesterday,
would prefer to fight Mr Sand-
ers, against whom he can find
far more ammunition.
Mr Sanders, for example, has
praised Fidel Castro’s govern-
ment and other Left-wing
Latin American foes of the US
and he honeymooned in the
Soviet Union with his wife.
A video has been unearthedshowing a semi-naked Mr
Sanders at a table strewn with
vodka bottles during this trip,
having a noisy post-sauna din-
ner with his communist hosts.
During the same trip, he
delivered a fierce condemna-
tion of US foreign intervention.
All of this would be perfect fod-
der for the Republicans’ ruth-
less attack machine.
Mr Biden and Mr Sanders are
not only ideologically far apart,
they’re also very different per-
sonalities. While Mr Sanders
seems permanently about to
explode with outrage, Mr
Biden’s main strengths are per-
ceived to be his empathy and
ability to connect with people.
As both try to widen their
support base so they can win
the contest outright, it is Mr

unstoppable front-runner a

faces the greater challenge.the race for President. I could
have told him long ago that
he didn’t have what it takes,
and he would have saved
himself a billion dollars.
‘Now he will pour money
into Sleepy Joe’s campaign,
hoping to save face. It won’t
work!’. Last night, Elizabeth
Warren, who failed to win herhome state Massachusetts,
was also on the verge of
pulling out – turning it into a
race between Mr Biden and
socialist Bernie Sanders.
It is not clear if Mr Bloomb-
erg, who is is worth around
$60billion (£47billion), would
re-allocate all his funds to Mr
Biden’s campaign.Bloomberg bows out after £400m campaign
