WORKSHOP SUMMARY:

“While there wasn’t much
movement in the sky, Sandymouth
is a big, interesting beach with lots
of striking geology. We began by
looking for intimate views of the
landscape, which was not something I had tried
before and I found it quite challenging. Although
I didn’t have a macro lens, my standard zoom
sufficed and Ross was a great help. As the tide
fell, I enjoyed capturing the waves rushing
around us – my favourite shoot of the day – and
lengthening exposures to create motion and
foreground texture. At low tide, a huge sandy
beach was revealed. At first, I was struggling to
see a composition due to the lack of tidal pools,
but Ross and I decided to get close to the water’s
edge and use waves as foreground interest. I got
wet feet, but it was well worth it. Thank you Ross
for your help and encouragement and to
Digital SLR Photography fo r t h e o p p o r t u n i t y.”
