We thought about naming him
after my dad, but he was called
Colin.. you never know, though
sat at home with the dogs and baking
a baby – I’ve got an easy life. I’m due
in May...” Sheridan added: “As soon as
I knew I was pregnant, I did take a
while off, but whenever the baby
arrives, I will be going back to work.
“I know I will. I’m chomping at that
bit already.
“I went to the theatre the other
night and he did not stop kicking – he
loves musicals. I’m assuming he’s
going to be a dancer or else he [ Jamie]
wants him to be a footballer.”
Sheridan announced she was
expecting with Jamie last October on
board a cruise ship while she was
performing.
Speaking to the audi-
ence, the star told fans
she had a “baby on board”,
going on to reveal she’d
been suffering from
morning sickness.
She joked at the time:
“I’ve got buckets in each
wing and trainers so I can
run. I’m very out of
breath. I’ve got all these
new symptoms, so, sorry.”
Talking previously
about her mental break-
down, Sheridan said: “I
kind of lost it a bit after
my dad died. I’ve come out the other
side now and I need to get it all out
through my music.
“In public, it looks like I’ve moaned
about everything with my dad dying,
but that’s not the case. I just had a
massive meltdown.”
Sheridan met City worker Jamie on
Tinder in February, 2019, and the pair
got engaged just three months later.

Mulling over names for her
impending arrival is a bittersweet
experience for Sheridan Smith.
The joy and excitement of soon
becoming a mum is mixed with
poignant thoughts of her
much-loved late father who
died from cancer.
The pregnant actress and
singer has considered
honouring her dad by
naming her son after him,
but says Colin may not be
the best choice.
She said: “I
think all the
names we’ve
got so far have
b e e n p r e t t y
traditional. We
thought about
naming him
after my dad,
but my dad’s
called Colin,
which is a bit....
“As much as we
miss him and love
him. Storm, River,
Colin... you never know.”
The 38-year-old lost her dad
in 2016, a trauma which later
triggered a mental breakdown.
Sheridan, expecting her first
with fiancé Jamie Horn, 28, has
praised him for being “the best”.
“I’ve had a bit of morning sick-
ness in the beginning, but I’ve been
quite lucky. Honestly, he has been
looking after me – he’s the best.
