FORGET Instagram influencers
and social media agony aunts –
20-somethings would rather turn
to their grandparents for advice.
Almost three quarters of young
adults ask elderly relatives for tips on
love, life and money, a study found.
“Family comes first” was the
favourite tip followed by “treat others
as you wish to be treated”.
Old adages including, “save for a
rainy day”, “forgive and forget” and
“look after the pennies and the
pounds will look
after themselves”
were among
other pearls
of wisdom
regularly
dished out.
Four in 10
o f t h o s e

they were all
ears if granny
and grandad
spoke, as they know life’s pitfalls.
Eight in 10 said wisdom comes with
age although two thirds admitted
some tips were a little old fashioned.
The survey of 1,500 people was
carried out by mobile phone network
Giffgaff.
A spokesman for the company said:

to their nan or grandad for some great
life advice they can count on.”
