so you never know...” And Mike had
said in April: “Never say never. There’s
no plans. But never say never.”
Genesis, whose hits include Invis-
ible Touch, That’s All and Turn It On
Again, released their last studio
album, Calling All Stations, in 1997.
Phil was originally the drummer
and became lead singer after Peter
Gabriel, 70, left in 1975.
He is now unable to play drums
due to nerve damage in his hands
and son Nicholas, 18, has filled in for
him on his solo tour.
Rolling Stone magazine previously
asked him if he would like to stand in
for his dad in a Genesis reunion – and
he said he would be “ecstatic”.
Nicholas said: “That Genesis stuff,
drumwise, is something else,
absolutely unbelievable.”
Phil said in 2017 he had suggested
Nicholas standing in for him during
a reunion, saying: “I did mention to
Tony very quietly if we did
anything again, it would be
with Nic on drums. He kind
of didn’t say no. But I’m not
sure if he heard me or not.”
Meanwhile, former
bandmate Steve
Hackett, 70, has
his memoirs, A
Genesis In My
Bed, out in July.

CALLING all stations... rockers
Genesis are re-forming 13 years
after their last live show.
Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford and
Tony Banks, all 69, will talk about the
reunion on Zoe Ball’s Radio 2 Break-
fast Show this morning.
The plans, which are thought to
include a tour, come after the trio
sparked rumours in January when
they were snapped together at a
basketball game in New York.
Fans have been desperate for the
band to re-form since its 40th
anniversary tour in 2007.
Last June, Phil and Mike performed
together at a concert in Berlin. It
came amid six live dates where Mike’s
other band, Mike and the Mechanics,
toured with Phil on his Still
Not Dead Yet tour.
At the end of last year,
Phil hinted: “We
remain close friends,

Kate’s gown wins Irish ayes

THE Duchess of Cambridge had Irish eyes
smiling as she kicked off her three-day visit
to the Emerald Isle in an all-green outfit.
Kate, 38, kept to recent royal tradition of
wearing the colour to show respect in an
Alessandra Rich dress.
She and hubby Prince William met
President Michael D Higgins, 78, his
wife Sabina, 75, and their pet dog, brod,
in Dublin yesterday.
On a visit to the city’s Garden of
Remembrance, they laid a wreath to
victims of the Troubles. A message
written by William, 37, said: “May we never
forget the lessons of history as we continue
to build a brighter future together.”
They later went to a reception at the
Guinness Storehouse to toast their arrival.
