The region’s most popular attractions demonstrate the
importance of adventure in this part of the world. From
Lake Burdur with its nine picturesque swimming beaches
and fantastic conditions for windsurfing, to the Insuyu cave
with a labyrinth of pools and chambers dripping with
stalactites, and the Taurus mountains boasting stunning
rock-climbing areas and its own winter sports and ski resort
in the form of Mount Davraz.
This part of south-west Turkey has seen waves of historical
influence, with early settlements such as the ruined city
of Sagalassos dating back to 12,000 years BP, and the city of
Pisidia, which was founded by the Greeks and conquered by
Alexander the Great. Egyptian, Hellenistic, Roman and early
Byzantine peoples have all made their mark on the region,
with many ruins telling stories of cultures that rose >

The ancient Roman city
of Sagalassos is one of the
best preserved sites in Turkey

Perched on a steep mountain
slope, the views at Sagalassos
are unrivalled in their beauty
