MATTHEW
ADAMS DOLAN
The work of American
designer Matthew Adams
Dolan is informed by the
evolution of American style.
A global traveller from a young
age, Adams Dolan was born in
Massachusetts and raised in
Sydney, with formative years
spent studying in rural Japan,
Switzerland, Australia and
New York City. But no matter
where he was, one constant
influence was his mother –
who exposed him to the
traditions of American craft.
It was Rihanna, an early
supporter of his collections,
who called global attention
to Adams Dolan’s designs.
He makes cool clothes
that people can wear, with
dramatised proportions,
a brilliant use of colour,
denim, tailoring
and utility details.

A-COLD-WALL
Beyond the label of luxury
streetwear designer,
Brixton-born Samuel Ross
has become a cultural leader.
He believes fashion has an
obligation to be political.
For five years, his brand,
A-Cold-Wall, has consistently
injected street staples with
modern sophistication – and
made a statement about
the challenges of today and
optimism for tomorrow in the
process. Ross began the brand
as an art project and evolved
it into a commercial success,
with more than a hundred
international stockists. His
poignant interpretations of
working-class staples framed
through the political disunity
of Brexit and race relations
have garnered a cult following
and spawned collaborations
with household names such as
Nike and Converse, and with
artist Daniel Arsham. For a/w
2020, Ross relocated his show
from London to Milan.
