(d) Wall intersections: using 2 6 exterior studs, the

wall intersection may be made up of one or two

studs (Figure 13.29) with drywall clips used to secure

the gypsum board (drywall). Some specifications

and details require that three studs be used for 2  6

intersections (similar to the 2 4 intersections).

(e) Wall openings: typically, extra studs are required

at all openings in the wall (Figure 13.30). How-

ever, when the openings are planned to fit into

the framing of the building, they require less

extra material. Figure 13.31a shows the material

required for a window, which has not been

worked into the module of the framing. Fig-

ure 13.31b shows the material for a window,

which has been worked into the module of the

framing. The layout in Figure 13.31a actually

requires four extra studs; in 13.31b, three extra

studs; and in 13.32a, two extra studs.
